This volume is a first edition.
Written by E. D. G. Prime, chronicles Prime’s year‑long global tour, beginning in New York, crossing North America, then voyaging across the Atlantic and Pacific. His route touched Japan, India, Egypt, and other regions, before returning to New York. This whistle-stop tour was taken by a variety of steam-trains and steam-ships, which accounted to a total of seventy-five days of his trip.
With numerous engraved illustrations and vignettes of his travels, some of which are full-page, including a frontispiece engraving of the Taj, at Agra.
E. D. G. Prime (born Edward Dorr Griffin Prime, 1814-1891) was a prominent American journalist, writer, and travel writer of the 19th century, best known for his detailed accounts of travel and missionary work.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing and bumping to boards and extremities, resulting in slight loss to cloth at extremities, with one or two chips to the head and tail of spine. Scattered spotting causing slight discolouration to boards. Spine faded. Slight cockling to endpapers, fading to perimeters, with the odd spot and crease. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, if a little age toned, with one or two spots, heavier to fore edge.
