Uncommon work. Illustrated throughout with colour comic scenes. Being a collection of humorous and amusing scenes and images refering to the notion of "a fool's paradise" or a state of happiness based on false beliefs, unrealistic hopes, and mistaken ideas that are unlikely to last. With titles such as: The Puzzled Peasant and the Runaway Porker, The Crinoline, and The Giant Bear Hunter and the Bruin Who Nearly Caught Him, amongst others. Attributed to Professor Wolley Cobble, a pseudonym. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

Rebacked with the original cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. The odd small closed tear to the page edges.
