Very scarce work. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, title vignette, thirty-five plates, sixteen of which are in colour, and numerous in-text images. Collated complete. A collection of hymns, verses, and short stories for children about the year. With titles such as: Winter in the Country, A Lesson from a Sparrow, Spring Flowers, Sabbath Bells in June, The Rising Moon, and November Bonfires, amongst others. From The Religious Tract Society, a British evangelical Christian organization founded in 1799, known for publishing a variety of popular religious and quasi-religious texts in the nineteenth century. Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Minor loss and light splits to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Hinges just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and the odd small handling mark. The odd small closed tear to the page edges. With age toning to the endpapers and a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
