In full calf binding, with decorative gilt to the spine.

'Songs Before Sunrise' is a collection of poems by Algernon Charles Swinburne dedicated to Italian patriot Giuseppe Mazzini. It centres on themes of nationalism and rebellion and reflects Swinburne's strong support for Mazzini's ideals, particularly in the context of Italian unification. 

Includes poems such as 'The Eve of Revolution', 'Hertha' and 'The Song of the Standard', among others. 

Condition

In full calf binding, with decorative gilt to the spine and dentelles. Externally, smart, with darkening to the spine and cracking to the front joints. Front hinge is therefore slightly tender. Rubbing to the extremities and small ex libris bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spots to the endpapers.
