First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce work from Henry Leslie, a leader in supporting amateur choral musicians in Britain, remembered for helping to found national music schools and prize-winning amateur choral societies.
Illustrated with a frontispiece by J. E. Millias - and with a tipped in advertisement of this fact to the title page - alongside three further plates by Val. Prinsep, Marcus Stone and G. J. Pinwell. Collated, complete.
Leslie published these annuals between 1871 and 1874, with all now vanishingly scarce.
With eight pages of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth covered wraps. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with discolouration to board perimeters, and small closed tear to head of front wrap. Fore edges of wraps reinforced to the fore edge with tape to the reverse. First gathering, which includes title page and frontispiece, detached and loosely inserted. Clear tape to gutter of page 1. Otherwise, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with minor tide marks to fore edge of pages 25 to 38. Handling marks throughout.
