Description

Decorative Binding, Fine Binding, Leather Binding

Beautifully bound by E. & A. Lesort, in full polished morocco with intricate gilt detailing and dentelles. Housed in a custom-made box, also made by Lesort, who were a Paris-based bookbinder, publisher and bookshop specialising in Catholic liturgical works.

No. 21 of the 'Paroissien Romain'.

Written in French, for the use of parishioners of catholic churches in France, with the approval of the Archbishop at the time, Joseph Hippolyte-Guibert.

Volume I presents 'Partie D'Hiver (De la Noel a Pentecote)', while Volume II presents 'Partie D'Ete (De la Pentecote a Noel)'.

Illustrated with a frontispiece in colour to each volume.

Individual volumes measure 6" by 3.5", with the box measuring 9.5" by 6.5".

Condition

Bound in full morocco, housed in a custom-made cloth covered box. Externally, lovely, with light shelf wear and the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages. Bookbinder label to the verso of the front endpaper. Custom box is sound with light marking, the odd damp stain. A little rubbed to the box, with slight fading. Internally, ribbon is detaching and has torn to the hinge.
