Comprising five issues from Vol. X of 'The English Mechanic and Mirror of Science' (also known as 'The English Mechanic and World of Science'). 

Includes No. 250-253 and No. 260. Scarce to find issues from this year/volume. 

In the publisher's printed wraps. 

This popular-science magazine published weekly from 1865 to 1926, aimed at readers interested in inventions, gadgets, new scientific discoveries, technology and mathematics. The publication consists of lively correspondence sections as well as articles on topics including 'Electricity: Its Theory and Applications', 'Production of Artificial Jewels' and 'Spontaneous Combustion of the Human Body'. 

Thoroughly illustrated throughout with in-text detailed wood engravings. 

A very well-preserved set for its age comprising scarce issues of this popular-science publication.

Condition

In the publisher's printed wraps. Externally, very smart, with mild wear around the string bindings. The odd handling mark or spot to the wraps, most notable to No. 260. Internally, text blocks to all but No. 260 are separated from the stapled binding, however leaves remain neatly intact with each other. Other volumes firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with only the odd handling mark or small spot to majority of volumes. Most notable instances to No. 260, which also has a small closed tear affecting the last couple leaves.
