    The first edition.

    Illustrated with a steel engraved monochrome frontispiece, and eleven steel engraved plates. Collated, complete. 

    Includes two articles on cigars and tobacco loosely inserted. 

    A scarce study on the uses of malt, hops, yeast and tobacco from Henry P. Prescott, providing interesting insight into the creation of alcohol and tobacco. The work contains sections on how barley grows, hops and yeast, malt, beers, spirits, and tobacco and other leaves. 

    In the publisher's original cloth.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth. Externally smart with very minimal fading to the spine and extremities, and light edge wear with small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine. Hinges cracked but firm. Internally firmly bound with light spotting and age toning to the extremities.
