Illustrated, Leather Binding

An illustrated celebration of the work of caricaturist and illustrator George Cruikshank, hailed as the 'modern Hogarth' by his contemporaries.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, twelve steel engraved plates, and in-text woodcuts. Collated, complete.

All of the illustrations in this volume are by Cruikshank, who illustrated books by many eminent authors such as Charles Dickens, and was also known for his caricatures. 

Edited by Gilbert Abbott a' Beckett, a fellow humourist.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Spine is a little faded, as is the head of the front board, and the rear board. Minor bumping to the extremities. Small tear to the head and tail of the joints. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
