Charles Kingsley (1819–1875) was a prominent English clergyman, novelist, university professor, social reformer, and children’s author. He is best known for his children’s book The Water-Babies (1863) and the historical novel Westward Ho! (1855).
Condition
Bound in a full morocco prize binding. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, resulting in slight loss to morocco, more so to upper extremities and front joint. Bookplate from E. H. Parker, Thorneycreek, Cambridge, to front paste down. Prize inscription to front free endpaper: "Upper Third Form Prize, Edmund H. Parker, Christmas, 1869." The odd spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot.
