Bound in full crushed morocco with gilt decorations and a gilt spine by Riviere, with their binder's stamp to the verso of the front free endpaper. 
 
Illustrated by John Leighton and others with a monochrome engraved frontispiece, illuminated letters, headpieces, and full page and vignette engravings throughout. 

This beautifully bound volume features Catherine Winkworth's extensive collection of Christian hymns. The hymns were chosen and translated from the original German into English by Winkworth.

Condition

In full crushed morocco binding. Externally excellent with only the odd slight mark to the board and very minimal shelf wear. Bookplate belonging to 'George Fleming' to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound with spotting and age toning to the blanks, otherwise bright and generally clean with only the odd minor spot.
