Illustrated, Leather Binding, Pleasing Copy

In a pleasing full calf binding. 

This copy is exceptional for being illustrated with 20 plates of original sepia toned photographs, one of which compromises the frontispiece, alongside numerous in-text illustrations. 

A wide-ranging historical survey of Westminster Abbey, combining architectural description with biographical narrative on the monarchs, statesmen, poets, and public figures commemorated or buried there.

Arthur Penrhyn Stanley (1815–1881) was Dean of Westminster and one of the most influential churchmen and historians of his era.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to calf. Slight loss to spine label. The odd very minor handling mark to boards. Slight rubbing to rear board. Hinges cracked, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edge.
