A very smart copy, rebacked, and decorated with a crisp gilt motif to the front board, as well as to the later spine.

Featuring a monochrome frontispiece portrait of the author, and facsimile signature.
Condition
Bound in brown morocco, and rebacked. Rubbing to extremities, causing loss to leather. The odd mark to boards. Wear to hinges, potential for starting. Age toning and occasional marks to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Some leaves unopened. Pages generally bright and clean - occasional handling marks and the odd spot. Evidence of tape mending to reverse of title page and first page of preface.
