Dickens travelled through North American society from January to June 1842, and described his observations in this work, which was first published in the October of that year.

This volume also includes other miscellaneous short works from Dickens, including The Long Voyage, Bill-Sticking, Out of the Season, and On Duty with Inspector Field.

With a lending library bookplate, listing the rules for borrowing, to the front pastedown.

Condition

In a half morocco binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strip head and tail, joints, and board perimeters. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Library bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with handling marks throughout.
