Complete in two volumes. The first volume in this set looks at the exploration and trade by sea during this period, whereas the second volume is devoted to privateering and warlike expeditions. With four coloured maps to Volume I. Written by Henry Fox Bourne. Bourne was a social reformer and writer, who made his reputation with his first published work, a thorough research and insightful biography of Sir Philip Sidney. Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of Volume II. Collated, complete.

Condition

Rebacked with the publisher's original cloth boards and spine laid on. Externally, smart. A very little marking to the rear board of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd scattered spot, mostly to the first and last few pages.
