Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

Two works about the Yorkshire town by the Methodist minister Rev. George Shaw, bound in a single half calf volume.

The first of these works is the very scarce 1867 first edition of 'Rambles About Filey', illustrated with a frontispiece.

This work was intended to appeal both to residents and to the increasing number of Victorian visitors drawn to Filey as a coastal resort.

The second work is the very scarce 1867 first edition of 'Our Filey Fisherman', illustrated with a frontispiece, and retaining half title.

This is a companion piece that focuses specifically on the fishing community of Filey, offering a sympathetic portrayal of the fishermen's daily lives, religious convictions, customs, and speech,

Condition
