Profusely illustrated with charming engravings on wood from the original blocks engraved by Thomas Bewick. With the history and seclusion of the blocks for nearly one hundred years set forth in a preface by the publisher.

A book on the natural history for children, illustrating various animals with poems and descriptions. Comprising also the story of Tommy Trip, the "author" of this story, his dog Jouler, and of Woglog the bear.

Bound by Zaehnsdore in full contemporary tree calf with their binder's stamp to the front blank, re-backed in modern calf.

Bound in full contemporary tree calf, re-backed in modern calf. Externally, very minimal edge wear and slight marks to the boards. Hinges re-enforced. Internally firmly bound with bright pages and occasional spotting, heavier to the front. Binder's stamp to the front blank.
