Written by Walter Farquhar Hook, an eminent Victorian churchman who was the Vicar of Leeds responsible for the construction of the current Leeds Minster and for many ecclesiastical and social improvements to the city in the mid-nineteenth century. Previously held in the library of R. E. Maddison, a British doctor of philosophy.
Condition
Bound in full calf with gilt. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Light fading to the spine with minor loss to the spine label. Hinges just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpapers with the previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
