Complete in two volumes. Volume one is illustrated with a colour frontispiece, colour title vignette, and eighteen plates, nine of which are in colour. Volume two is illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, six plates, and four pages of facsimile. Collated complete. A collection of the works of Robert Burns, a Scottish poet and lyricist widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and celebrated worldwide, with a biography of the author. Volume one contains a spiritual biography, poems and sons, minor pieces, and letters. Volume two contains letters, being special, literary, general, and domestic correspondence. Written by Peter Hately Waddell, a Scottish cleric and prolific writer.
Condition
Bound in half crushed morocco with green cloth boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spines. The odd mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages with light age toning.
