Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

First edition. A collection of ten lectures given to the girls at Winnington Hall, being an imagined conversation with Winnington's girls in which Ruskin cast himself as the "Old Lecturer". These lectures on the surface appear to be a discourse on crystallography, with metaphorical exploration of social and political ideals running throughout. Written by John Ruskin, an English polymath – a writer, lecturer, art historian, art critic, draughtsman and philanthropist.
