A charming children's gift-book containing works on the scripture, including: the Alphabet of the Old Testament, the Alphabet of the New Testament, the history of Joseph, and the history of Moses. Intended for young children as religious and moral entertainment.
Illustrated with twenty-colour chromolithograph plates, each of which depict four scenes. Collated, complete.
Gift inscription to the front paste down, dated 1883.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing and marks to the cloth, marks heavier to the rear board. Minor bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Gift inscription to the front paste down Internally, the middle gathering is detached but present, otherwise firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few light handling marks.
