What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The very scarce first and only edition. Only one copy held institutionally.

With an additional engraved title page and twenty hand coloured and lithographically highlighted plates. Collated, the plates are bound out of sequence but the work is nonetheless complete.

With a preface by Reverend G. R. Gleig.

A stunning work, depicting oriental flora and fauna, including cashews, vanilla and coffee. Each plate contains a charming calligraphic poem matching the associated image.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with rubbing to boards and extremities, resulting in lifting to the cloth. Prior owner's gift inscription to front paste down. Internally binding strained, with a number of leaves working loose. Plates are bound out of sequence but are complete. Pages generally clean with the odd handling mark and spot.
