Bound in a full morocco binding.
Illustrated with 44 wood-engraved in-text vignettes and an illustrated title page and dedication, alongside numerous ornamentations engraved by Edmund Evans, Dalziel Brothers, and H. N. Woods, and designed by artists such as Myles Birket Foster, John Clayton, and Henry Noel Humphreys. Collated, complete.
This work features the collected poetical works George Herbert (1593–1633), a Welsh-born English poet, Anglican priest, and orator.
Condition
Bound in a full morocco binding. Externally, very smart. One or two handling marks to front board. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Bookplate from john H. O. Thornhill to front paste down. Loss to blank verso of illustrated title page, where it has been partially cut out. Scattered spotting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves.
