The very scarce first edition.

A treatise on the cheaper wines made in Europe, and how they can be used in diet and medicine. An interesting handbook on oenology. 

Including "short notes on a lecture to ladies on wine" and "remarks on acidity".

By Robert Druitt, a medical author of wide culture. This work was first published as articles in 'Medical Times and Gazette ' in 1863 and 1864, before this book form edition in 1865

Nine pages of adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's limp cloth wraps. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Minor shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small dampstain to the rear board. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
