This interesting medical work was written by John Hall Davis, a private lecturer on midwifery and obstetrician who attended the birth of Queen Victoria. This work provides an example of nineteenth century medical practices for childbirth, with this study being focussed on problematic births.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with bumping and minimal wear to the extremities. Marks to the endpapers with a bookseller's label to the front pastedown and a binder's label to the rear. Front hinge starting after the front free endpaper. Internally generally firmly bound with minimal strain in places, with generally bright and clean pages with the odd spot.
