A new edition of this comprehensive work by the late Edward Stanley, in an attractive full calf binding, with gilt detailing to the back strip.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and with charming vignettes throughout.

Edward Stanley, Lord Bishop of Norwich between 1837-1849, wrote this ornithological work, providing a comprehensive overview of various species of birds alongside their history, features and ways of life.

With the bookplate of Philip Edmondson to a front blank, and with a further morocco bookplate to the front pastedown.

Condition

In a full calf binding, with gilt detailing to back strip. Externally, lovely. Morocco bookplate to front pastedown, with further bookplate to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright and generally clean, with only the odd spot.
