The work of English Orientalist and biblical scholar Edward Pococke. Pococke presents a scholarly analysis of the biblical book of Hosea.
Pococke combines his mastery of Hebrew and other Semitic languages with historical and cultural insights to interpret the text, with references to ancient Near Eastern traditions and rabbinic literature.

Condition
Rebacked, in a full calf binding, with original boards restored. Retaining the original endpapers. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to boards, and gilt detailing to back strip. A touch of worming to head of front pastedown, and tail of rear pastedown. Neat restorations to fore edge of front free endpaper, and more significant restoration to rear free endpaper. Minor restoration to head of imprimatur leaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with light spotting to fore edges of leaves.
