Offering an intimate portrait of English musician and music publisher, Vincent Novello, who is widely regarded for bringing to England many works now considered standards. A regular host of musical evenings, many celebrated figures in the worlds of art and letters were constant frequenters of his house in Oxford Street, including Charles and Mary Lamb, Keats, Leigh Hunt, Shelley, Hazlitt.
Mary Cowden Clarke, his daughter, was an English author and a notable compiler of a concordance to Shakespeare. Here she speaks of her father's upbringing, acquaintances, musical gifts, education, and productions.
Condition
In the original decorative cloth binding. With the original glassine. Externally, excellent, with only mild shelf wear. Glassine is chipped and toned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the odd spot.
