The work of John Petty, a primitive Methodist minister, known for writing a number of books on primitive Methodism, although is best recognised for this one.

Originating in England in the early 19th century, primitive Methodism was formed to restore a spirit of revivalism, encouraging camp meetings and lay participation.

This work covers the history of the primitive Methodist church, from its origin up until the conference of 1860, which marked the fiftieth year of their community.

Condition

Bound in full blind-stamped morocco. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to joints and extremities. Endpapers renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with a few light spots, including to the plates.
