Description

Complete in four volumes.

'A History of England' was first published in 1848. It begins in 1685 and covers the history of England until 1702, encompassing the reign of James II, the Glorious Revolution, the coregency of William and Mary, and concludes at William III's death. An in-depth study of this period of seventeen years.

Macaulay's approach to this work was considered innovative. He utilised the dramatic style of classic historians whilst incorporating the factual approach of his eighteenth century precursors, such as Hume.
