The first edition of this vanishingly scarce work, dated 1864 via historical purchase records.

Illustrated throughout in blue and black ink, with a frontispiece, title page, and five plates. Collated, complete.

These plates are signed 'N.B'.

In the publisher's original binding, this is the truly charming tale of a greedy puppy and his encounters with a number of animals, including pigs, horses and monkeys.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards, retaining the original pictorial label to the front board. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
