    First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

    First edition. Illustrated with eight plates to the front of the text and numerous in-text images. Collated complete. A charming guide to the various beings which can exercise an influence upon the garden and greenhouse, to enable the cultivator to distinguish between friend and foe, and to give simple direction for encouraging the one and exterminating the other. Written by John George Wood, or Reverend J. G. Wood, an English writer who popularised natural history with his writings. Illustrated by T. W. Wood, Coleman, Smith, and more. Bound by Bickers & Son, London.

    Condition

    Bound in full calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and boards with the odd small mark. Minor cracks to the head and tail of the spine as well as the joints. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. Minor tide marks to the plates. Light age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Bound by Bickers & Son, London.
