The first single volume edition of this work, adapted from the author's previously published 'Lives of the Engineers'.
Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, and with vignette illustrations throughout.
With a publisher's catalogue to the rear, dated November 1863, and with advertisements to endpapers.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with a touch of fading to back strip, and with boards bright. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to title page head. Pages clean and bright.
