What Our Customers Say...
Description
Rebound, Very Scarce
Bound in half calf binding with marbled paper boards.
This edition contains three of Euripides plays, bound as one. The plays are Euripides' Hecuba, Medea, and Alcestis. Each play is presented in the original Ancient Greek, accompanied by brief English notes.
Alcestis portrays a moving tale of love and self-sacrifice, as the heroine offers her life to save her husband, Admetus. Medea is a gripping study of betrayal and vengeance, following a woman driven to shocking extremes after being abandoned by Jason. In Hecuba, the fallen Queen of Troy endures profound grief and loss, yet displays remarkable strength amid the ruins of her world.
Euripides (c. 480 - c. 406 BC) was a Greek tragedian of classical Athens. Along with Aeschylus and Sophocles, he is one of the three ancient Greek tragedians for whom any plays have survived in full.
