Written and illustrated by Robert Scott Burn, a Scottish engineer and author known for his works on building construction and mechanical engineering. W. Walker, A. B. Brown, Francis Lightbody and Robert Davis were also contributors.

Richly illustrated with in-text woodcuts throughout, as well as forty-eight plates from I-XLVIII and eight plates from A to H. Collated, complete.
Complete with errata.
Condition
In a full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just a touch of wear to the recent cloth. Library bookplate to the front endpaper; ownership inscription to the title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are heavily spotted and discoloured throughout; they are worn to the edges. Title page has loss which has been repaired but affects the title.
