Part III from this series that critically examined the Pentateuch and Book of Joshua, from Cornish cleric and first Bishop of Natal, John William Colenso.
The works as a whole caused a great controversy when Colenso tried to remove points of doctrine which men of the time found impossible to believe. He challenged the historical accuracy of the Pentateuch and challenged its Mosaic authorship.
What came after was a revival of scholarly study into the first five books of the Bible.
With a forty-page catalogue of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
