With a photograph by the influential Scottish photographer, G. W. Wilson, to the title page, and thirteen mounted photographs by Thomas Ogle throughout, showcasing the beautiful scenery of Scotland. Collated, complete.
'The Lady of the Lake', is a famous narrative poem by the renowned Scottish writer, Sir Walter Scott. The poem is structured in six cantos, each individually concerning the actions of a single day. With reference throughout to King James V of Scotland and a war between the Lowland Scots and the Highland Clans.
With a contemporary owner's inscription, dated 1863, to the front free endpaper.
The photographs offer lovely visuals of the landscape of Scotland.
Condition
In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with rear joint head and tail starting, with board somewhat tender. Front hinge strained and somewhat tender. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, binding strained to the start of the work - with one gathering detached to the tail - but generally firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with instances of spotting throughout.
