Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume.
With a memoir of the author by his eldest son, William Blanchard Jerrold.
From the library of W.A. Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey. William Foyle founded Foyles bookshop in 1903 alongside his brother. He purchased Beeleigh Abbey during the Second World War, an impressive twelfth century monastery in Essex. Beeleigh housed his library, one of the largest private libraries in England.
Condition
In half calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. With marbled paper covered boards. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to volume IV and II back strip heads. Internally, firmly bound. Light offsetting and spotting to title pages, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
