A detailed account of a British government mission to Fiji, combining political observations with Seemann's background as a botanist. The work acts as a foundation of Seemann's later work, Flora Vitiensis. Seeman was sent to the region to document the flora and fauna, as well as to report more broadly on the island's features, with this work including a range of topics, such as tattoo culture, polygamy and religious rites.
Condition
In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally smart with bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Slightly cocked. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with marginal age toning.
