Bound in full crushed morocco with gilt detailing.

A collection of lectures delivered by Arthur Penrhyn Stanley on the subject of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Stanley was an English Anglican priest and ecclesiastical historian, known for his numerous works on Church history.

In 1857, Stanley travelled to Russia, collecting material for these lectures on the Eastern Orthodox Church, presenting the history, doctrines, divisions and other information about this group of Christians. Notably, Stanley's lectures contain an argument for the apostolic claims of the Church of Abyssinia.

Illustrated with a plan of the Patriarchal Cathedral of Moscow and a folding mp of the Eastern Churches.

Collated complete.

Condition

Bound in full crushed morocco. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to joints and spine. Hinges are slightly strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few spots to the first few pages. Ink inscription to front blank.
