Description
First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Rebound, Scarce
The first edition of volume IV of the 'RUSI Journal', the leading journal on defence and security.
The journal was first produced in 1857 with the aim to publish ‘articles, whether original, compiled, or translated, which seem likely to be of interest to the Service at large, and are of sufficient importance to be worthy of insertion in its limited pages’, in the words of the later editor, Colonel Bowlder.
Deemed as the most important military periodical in Victorian Britain, with this volume extending from Vol. IV, No. XII to Vol. IV., Appendix.
Illustrated with thirty-three maps and plates, many of which are folding, alongside further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.
Rebound in half calf, with endpapers renewed.
A fascinating and scarce academic journal on defence.
