Thomas Witlam Atkinson details his journeys through eastern Siberia and the Amoor River region in the mid nineteenth century, describing the landscapes, peoples, and cultures encountered, as well as detailing the natural history and geography of the region.
Lacking the publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Atkinson travelled with his wife and young son, and records encounters their with Cossacks, Tungusic peoples, and Chinese traders.
Including reference to the hunting of both bear and boar.

In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to back strip head and tail and board perimeters. Head of front joint starting, with board firmly held. Inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to frontispiece perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
