Robert Smith Surtees (1805-1864) was an English editor and novelist, most widely known for the cockney character of Jorrocks.
Illustrated with thirteen hand coloured plates by John Leech, as well as in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.
In a beautiful binding by Hatchards of Piccadilly.
A smart example of Surtees' novel.
Condition
In a quarter crushed morocco binding. Externally lovely, with just a little bumping to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound; front hinge is strained and exposed at the title page. Pages are a little spotted and offset opposite plates.
