Including essays on: Milton, Machiavelli, Southey's Edition of the Pilgrim's Progress, and Moore's Life of Lord Byron. In three volumes complete. Thomas Babington Macaulay was a British poet, historian and Whig politician. He wrote extensively as an essayist and reviewer, and on British history. He also held political office as Secretary at War between 1839 and 1841 and Paymaster-General between 1846 and 1848. With a dedication by the author to Francis Jefferey.

Condition

In full calf bindings. Externally, generally smart with only a few marks and minor shelfwear. With a mark to front board of second volume. Internally, firmly bound. Generally bright and clean throughout but with the odd spot to endpapers.
