This volume offers detailed bibliographic descriptions, publication histories, and critical notes on thousands of English from many notable authors up until the 19th century, an exhaustive account of "rare, curious and useful books, published in or relating to Great Britain and Ireland from the invention of printing; with bibliographical and critical notices, collations of the rarer articles, and the prices at which they have been sold".
William Thomas Lowndes (1798–1843) was an English bibliographer whose Manual became an indispensable reference for collectors and scholars of English literature.
Condition
Bound in an half calf binding with marbled paper boards by J. Larkins. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in very slight loss to morocco. Slight fading to extremities and spines. Bookplate of Henry W. Ryland to front past downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edges and first and last few leaves.
