    In the publisher's original green cloth bindings. 

    A charming selection of volumes from the Aldine Edition of the British Poets, handsomely presented in the original green cloth bindings. This fine collection brings together the works of some of the most celebrated poets in English literature: Shakespeare, Swift, Prior, Cowper, Pope, offering both complete sets and partial runs from the Aldine edition series. 

    Each initial volume is illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of their respective authors. 

    This collection comprises:

    The Poetical Works of Henry Kirke White (1860).

    The Poetical Works of William Cowper with Notes and a Memoir by John Bruce, Vol. II, William Cowper, (1865). The first volume is absent from this collection. 

    The Poetical Works of William Cowper, Vol. III, William Cowper, (1865). Volumes I and II are not present in this collection. 

    The Poems of Shakespeare (1866).

    The Poetical Works of William Falconer (1866).

    The Poetical Works of Jonathan Swift, Volumes I, II and III (1866). This is a complete set. 

    The Poetical Works of Matthew Prior, Volumes I and II (1866). This is a complete set.

    The Poetical Works of Alexander Pope, Vol. III, Alexander Pope, (1866). Volumes I and II are not present in this collection.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities and boards. Stamp from "Institut Francais D’Ecosse: Biblioteque" with library annotation to title pages. One or two minor handling marks to boards. Binder’s discreet sticker to rear paste down of “Swift, volume I." Front joint of William Cowper slightly cracked, with binding materials slightly exposed, but holding. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges slightly trained in places, but holding. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to first and last few leaves. Heavier spotting to first and last few leaves of "Swift."
