The selected works of Puritan preacher and author John Bunyan.

Importantly, these volumes include Bunyan's best known work. 'The Pilgrim's Progress' is a Christian allegory which has become one of the most significant works in the English literature, being translated into over two-hundred languages, and never being out of print since its initial publication in 1678. It is second only to the Bible in popularity in Christian literature works.

Alongside 'Pilgrim's Progress', these volumes also include 'The Holy War', 'Differences in Judgment About Water Baptism', 'The Life and Death of Mr Badman', and more.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and twenty-five plates.

Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and six plates.

Collated, complete.

This edition includes introductory lectures on 'Pilgrim's Progress' by Robert Maguire.

Including a memoir on the life and writings of Bunyan by Josiah Conder.

Condition

In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, worn, with some loss of cloth to the front board of Volume II, less loss to the front board of Volume I. Tear to the tail of the rear joint of Volume I. A small amount of loss to the head of the spines. Bumping to the extremities. Light rubbing and marks to the boards and spines. Small chip to the spine label of Volume II. Front hinge of Volume I tender, rear hinge is starting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some scattered spots.
