An illustrated collection of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poetical works.

With a monochrome illustrated frontispiece and twenty-five illustrations by John Gilbert, engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. Collated, complete. 

This collection includes his narrative poem The Courtship of Miles Standish about the early days of Plymouth Colony, which was originally published the year prior. It is set against the backdrop of a fierce Indian war and follows a love triangle between three Pilgrims. 

Former owner's inscription, dated 1898, to the front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with minor losses in these regions, otherwise externally excellent. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of spotting.
