The first edition, second issue of this work, with the printer's imprint to the verso of the title page.

'Idylls of the King' is the first volume in Tennyson's cycle of twelve narrative poems, retelling the legend of King Arthur and his love for Guinevere.

Written by Alfred Lord Tennyson, a noted Victorian poet who was the Poet Laureate for most of Queen Victoria's reign.

Eight pages of adverts to the front, dated December 1859.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, a little worn with tears to the joints, and loss to the tail of the spine. Spine is faded. Minor marks to the cloth, including faded tape marks to the joints. Minor bumping to the head of the spine and to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is a little strained. Aged tape repair to the rear hinge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots.
