Being a useful and charming guide to dealing with the daily wants and needs of a household, with content ranging from economics, scientific theories, and medical advice, to cookery, hairdressing, and grammar. With volume one covering A to D, volume two covering D to P, and volume three covering P to Z.

Written by Robert Kemp Philp, an English journalist, author, and Chartist.

Bookplate of Martin & Pamela Finch to the front. The Finch couple founded Matthew Finch Design Consultants Limited, a graphics group which specialised in design for print and publishing. They opened an antiquarian bookshop, Wadard Books, in 2001.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloths. Externally, a slight lean to 'Vol I', edge wear with small closed tears to the head and tail of the spines, slight marks to the boards, minor fading to the spines, closed tears to the joints to 'Vol 2' and a small closed tear to the front joint to 'Vol 1'. Lacking front free endpapers, and hinges tender to 'Vols 1 and 3'. Internally first few pages tender to 'Vol 3', otherwise generally firm. Pages lightly age toned in places, with the odd spot.
